Mandarin For Kidz Programs

Butterfly Level for 2 to 3 year olds

Butterfly ClassThis is a 45-minute weekly toddler session specifically designed for kids up to 3 years old. Although children may start learning languages from as young as 9 months, we recommend enrolments start from age 2 years onwards, so that your little ones can be stimulated effectively, participate more freely and enjoy our toddler program.

Our toddler sessions are interactive and sensory focused. We expect the parents/carers to accompany the kids during each session and we also encourage the parents to actively participate with the weekly learning activities.

The program is structured with different themes each week. Our experienced teachers will introduce Chinese in a fun way to make it easy for your child to absorb the new language directly and indirectly.

Rabbit Level for 3 to 5 year olds

Rabbit Class

This is a 90-minute weekly session geared towards encouraging pre-schoolers to embrace Mandarin as a second language. As your child’s cognitive ability increases, so is their ability to communicate. For this age group, we start to extend their listening and speaking skills in Mandarin.

Rabbit students are more involved with interactive activities and games. The teachers will encourage your child to use Mandarin confidently, starting with simple words. Rabbit students are also exposed to basic phrases, speech patterns, numbers, colours, body parts and simple characters each week.

Parents and carers can join in and participate during each session until the children become confident to be in their classes without their parents.

Panda Level for 5 to 7 year olds

Panda Class

This 90-minute in-class session for primary school age children is offered on weekdays (after-school) and on weekends (Saturday) during school term. Panda students are confident with their Mandarin as most of them have advanced through our immersion program. However, we do enrol other children who are suitable to this level.

Panda students are grouped according to age and proficiency level. We also introduce content from an internationally recognised standard - Youth Chinese Test (YCT) to provide students the opportunity to take a Mandarin proficiency examination at a later stage. Teachers are actively encouraging dialogue with students. Students are able to answer and ask simple questions as well as form basic phrases and sentences. Kids are encouraged to share weekly “show and tell” sessions with their classmates.

Our teachers will adopt appropriate teaching methods and resources to create a wide range of speech events such as role playing, interactive activities, games as well as art and craft projects.

We will start to introduce pinyin, speech tones and more challenging speech patterns as they progress.

A formal exam towards the end of each calendar year is optional. As a reference, we recommend a minimum of 45 to 50 class hours to prepare each student for each level in 2024. More information and a study pack will be provided to our Tiger level students once they enrol for 2024.
